Description

Seeking rapidly deployable, mesh-capable communications relay solutions for disconnected or contested environments.

Overall Objective

Develop a lightweight, rapidly deployable communications relay system that provides persistent connectivity in environments where traditional infrastructure is unavailable or compromised.

Problem Statement

Expeditionary forces frequently operate in areas with no existing communications infrastructure. Current solutions are either too heavy for rapid deployment, too fragile for contested environments, or lack the bandwidth for modern tactical data requirements.

Desired Solution

A man-portable or small vehicle-mountable communications relay that establishes mesh connectivity within minutes of deployment. Must support voice, data, and video with encryption. Should operate independently for 48+ hours and integrate with existing tactical radios and networks.

Key Attributes

Performance

BandwidthMinimum 50 Mbps aggregate throughput per node.
Range5km node-to-node in open terrain, 1km in urban.
LatencySub-100ms for voice/C2 traffic.

Physical

WeightUnder 15 lbs per relay node including battery.
Setup TimeOperational within 5 minutes of unpacking.
Power48-hour battery life under typical load; solar recharge option.
